1. Introduction

CardLLM ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the CardLLM iOS application (the "App").

The short version: Your vocabulary data stays on your device. We use Google AdMob for advertising and Firebase Analytics for app improvement, which may collect limited data as described below.

2. Information We Collect

Your vocabulary data is local-only.

CardLLM is designed with a local-first architecture. All vocabulary data — including your words, folders, review progress, and preferences — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We never access, collect, or transmit your vocabulary data.

• No account required — You can use CardLLM without creating an account or providing any personal information.
• No first-party analytics — We do not operate any analytics servers or telemetry of our own.
• Your words are private — Your vocabulary, study progress, and learning history never leave your device.

3. Advertising and Analytics

Google AdMob

CardLLM displays ads through Google AdMob. Google may collect certain data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, including:

• Device identifiers (such as the Advertising Identifier)
• General location data (e.g. country or region)
• App usage data related to ad interactions

You can opt out of personalized advertising through your iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking. You can also remove all ads permanently with a one-time in-app purchase.

Firebase Analytics

CardLLM uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve the experience. Firebase may collect:

• App usage events (e.g. screen views, feature interactions)
• Crash reports and performance data
• Device information (model, OS version)
• App instance identifiers

No vocabulary data, words, or study content is included in analytics. Firebase Analytics data is processed by Google. For details, refer to Firebase's Privacy Information.

4. AI Processing

CardLLM uses Apple Intelligence (FoundationModels framework) to generate definitions, example sentences, and quiz questions. This AI processing happens entirely on your device. No text, words, or prompts are sent to any external server — including Apple's servers — for AI processing.

5. Camera and OCR

CardLLM offers an optional camera feature for scanning printed text (OCR). When you use this feature:

• Camera access is requested through iOS system permissions.
• All text recognition is performed on-device using Apple's Vision framework.
• No images or recognized text are transmitted off your device.

6. Data Storage

All user data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. Your data is protected by iOS's built-in encryption and your device passcode. If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed.

7. In-App Purchases

CardLLM offers in-app purchases through Apple's StoreKit framework, including a one-time lifetime purchase to remove ads and optional tips. These transactions are processed entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or purchase history.

8. Children's Privacy

CardLLM does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The Google AdMob and Firebase SDKs are configured to comply with applicable children's privacy regulations.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
